In Case You Didn’t Think AT&T and the .Gov Were Spying on You

AT&T Statement on NSA Issue

Spybot

At AT&T, we vigorously protect our customers’ privacy and only share information as specifically authorized by the law.

The news media have carried reports alleging that AT&T is participating in an unlawful NSA terrorist surveillance program. Unfortunately, the law does not permit AT&T to respond to those allegations.

The U.S. Department of Justice has stated that AT&T may neither confirm nor deny AT&T’s participation in the alleged NSA program because doing so would cause “exceptionally grave harm to national security” and would violate both civil and criminal statutes. Under these circumstances, AT&T is not able to respond to such allegations.

What we can say is AT&T is fully committed to protecting our customers’ privacy and would not provide customer information to any government agency except as specifically authorized under the law.

does anyone else need their IT department to see this list?

Come on, you know I’m right. Number 3 is pretty good and there should be a number 11: Know the tech you are working with. Did you know you use Microsoft Word to hack into someone’s computer? You have to be certified but it’s possible.

Rampage: Aussie Tank (1) VS Cell Towers (0)

Someone’s rage bar was at full, due to their shitty cell phone service. What better way to get back at the cheap-ass carriers than to commandeer a tank and drive over them? Hell, sounds good to me!

tank vs cell towers

A FORMER Telstra worker allegedly stole a tank and used it to demolish six mobile phone towers as he led police on a wild two-hour rampage through western Sydney yesterday.

More than 20 police chased the tank but were powerless to stop it, retreating to a safe distance as the huge vehicle cut a path of destruction through six suburbs.

They could only watch as the driver, hanging out of the top at times, allegedly rammed the tank through fences and into six mobile phone towers, telecommunication relay sheds and an electrical substation.

T-Mobile’s Mobile Network + WiFi Service

This is actually a pretty cool idea. I wonder if one of the unintended consequences of the iPhone is innovation by other phone companies and carriers?

(T-Mobile’s Hotspot at Home Landing Page - Gayest Ever?)
T-Mobile Hotspot at Home

Here’s the basic idea. If you’re willing to pay $10 a month on top of a regular T-Mobile voice plan, you get a special cellphone. When you’re out and about, it works like any other phone; calls eat up your monthly minutes as usual.

But when it’s in a Wi-Fi wireless Internet hot spot, this phone offers a huge bargain: all your calls are free. You use it and dial it the same as always — you still get call hold, caller ID, three-way calling and all the other features — but now your voice is carried by the Internet rather than the cellular airwaves.

Kevin Rose’s Pownce Gets Ripped a New Asshole

If you like Digg, you’ll love Pownce - wrong! It looks like the Digg community hates their founders newest foray into web apps. Nuggets of truth:

Pownce is a web service that lets you “share stuff with your friends”. Translated into non-retard speak, this means “a website where you can go to put notes and files and shit up for other users”. What was that? You remember FTP too? Yeah, from nineteen seventy-fucking one? Now it has pastel colors, and it’s invite-only.

Kevin, if you are reading this, this is the one line you really need to take to heart: don’t make me sign up for fucking Paypal to use your lame ass web service.

What The Fuck Is Megatechtronium? Supposedly that’s the company that develops Pownce. What, Hypercompuglobalmeganet was taken?

Sure, you could put a few mp3s up there, but without larger file sizes, it’s functionally useless. Oh, you can pay $20/year for the privilege of 100MB file uploads. Whoop-de fucking doo. They use Amazon S3 as a data store, which will cost you $1.80 to store a gigabyte of data for a year if you use it independently of Pownce. Overpriced much?
