Heavy video gamers comprise only 2% of all gamers, yet they spent more than eight times on games than the average gamer did in the last quarter of 2006, according to NPD Group’s “Gamer Segmentation II” study, conducted in January 2007 among gamers ages 6 to 44.

These heavy gamers owned an average of 2.8 video game consoles, and played an average of 39.3 hours every week.

    As a hardcore/heavy gamer I own:

    -5 gaming consoles
-buy at least 2 games a month (this fall is going to rape me)
-Play as much as I can

But fuck computer games. I like to change things up and games like WoW don’t have an end. Can you beat WoW? Hell no.

    Totally the Long Tail.

All buzzword bullshit aside, Chris Anderson is WAY smarter then you…and me…combined. Hardcore game-tards make up about 16% of the total market for games (in terms of revenue)… which leaves the other 98% of the population responsible for 84% of the market. Whar my money at?!?!?
